High School Entrance Exams
When determining what high school you will attend, find out if that high school requires an entrance exam. Some high schools require you to take a standardized entrance exam in order to be accepted into their school. Two of the most popular tests are the ISEE (Independent School Entrance Examination) and the SSAT (Secondary School Admission Test).

ISEE

The ISEE (Independent School Entrance Examination) is a standardized, high school entrance exam usually given by private high schools and competitive high schools. This test measures language skills, concept skills (arithmetic, elementary algebra and basic geometry), reading skills and math skills.

SSAT

The SSAT (Secondary School Admission Test) is a standardized high school entrance exam given by many private schools and competitive schools. This test measures your verbal skills, concept skills (arithmetic, elementary algebra, basic geometry) and reading skills. Plus, it includes one essay question asking you to argue or defend a topic with personal experiences, current events or events in history.
