The Illinois Student Assistance Commission (ISAC) would like to make you aware of the following information, which may be of interest to students and their families.

Start Planning Now for 2012-13 Academic Year

If you are a student who plans to attend college during the 2012-13 academic year, now is the time to search for scholarships to help fund your education. As you conduct scholarship searches, beware of financial aid "scams." There are many reputable resources available, including the Find Scholarships area of What's Next Illinois, scholarship books in your library's reference section, and the financial aid office at the college you plan to attend.

This is also the time for high school seniors planning to start college in the fall of 2012 to apply for a Personal Identification Number (PIN), to be used in January when completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).

To learn about the financial aid process from the convenience of your computer, check out the Microsoft® PowerPoint® presentation entitled The Financial Aid Process, which can be accessed online via the During College section of the Students & Parents area at collegeillinois.org. The PowerPoint presentation has been updated to reflect information specific to the 2012-13 financial aid application cycle.
