IVG Eligibility Requirements To be eligible for the Illinois Veteran Grant, a student must:
In order to receive benefits, qualified applicants must be enrolled at an Illinois public 2- or 4-year college and maintain the minimum grade point average (GPA) required by that college. An IVG Benefits Program Guide is available for use in understanding IVG benefits. *If the student receives benefits from the IVG Program while serving on federal active duty service, upon discharge the student will be required to verify that service has been characterized as honorable. Comparison of Grant Programs for Veterans Students who qualify for the Illinois Veteran Grant (IVG) program and the Montgomery or Post-9/11 G.I. Bills, may receive benefits from both programs during the same academic year for eligible educational expenses. Refer to the Comparison of Grant Programs for Veterans chart that provides a side-by-side view of the Illinois Veteran Grant and federal Post-9/11 GI Bill programs. Using IVG with Other Tuition/Fee Benefits Illinois National Guard members who have been called to federal active duty may be eligible for the Illinois Veteran Grant Program administered by ISAC. Applicants who meet all eligibility requirements for both the IVG and ING Grant programs may have the option of receiving benefits from both programs during the same term(s) and/or academic year. However, prior to doing so, applicants are strongly encouraged to consult with the college's financial aid office and consider the following:
