The Silas Purnell Illinois Incentive for Access (IIA) Program provides assistance to students who have a limited ability to pay for college. Its purpose is to improve access and retention for these students, and possibly to reduce the amount borrowed by them. A qualified applicant with an EFC of 0 (zero) may receive one grant in an amount not to exceed $1,000, subject to appropriation. Qualified applicants with EFC's of $500 or less [but more than 0 (zero)] may receive an amount not to exceed $500, subject to appropriation. Recipients must be enrolled on at least a half-time basis at an IIA-participating college or university and meet the definition of freshman at that school. |
