Announcement of Finalists

A congratulatory letter was sent on November 27, 2007 directly to each high school senior who was designated as a State Scholar for the 2008-09 academic year.

The Announcement Roster and Certificates of Achievement for State Scholar Finalists for the 2008-09 Illinois State Scholar competitions were mailed to high schools on November 20, 2007. Also included in the mailing is a roster listing students who were considered but were not selected as eligible finalists, the formula used in the selection process and a list of reminders that includes the definition of the Disqualify Codes.

An appeal will be considered if incomplete and/or incorrect information was submitted to ISAC or if unique circumstances exist for a student. The student must write a letter of appeal within 60 days following the announcement of the State Scholar finalists. Student appeals must be received at ISAC no later than January 28, 2008.  After the appeal period ends, forms will be available to order a listing or set of mailing labels of State Scholar Finalists.

The Illinois State Scholar selection process with links to the formula, helpful reminders, sample announcement rosters and cover letters and a sample press release to use in announcing this year's State Scholars are documented on the State Scholar Finalist page within this section.
