Beyond the Grades
Keeping your child excited about learning is important to mental growth and academic achievement. However, colleges look for more than just grades to measure success. Encourage your child to develop characteristics that make him/her unique, keeping in mind that college admission officers look for what makes each applicant different. These characteristics include the child’s involvement in and outside of school; interests, skills and talents; and the abilities to manage time and take tests. Grades are important, but they are only one of the many factors colleges look at to understand each student’s potential.
