High School Students Receive Volumes of Information from Colleges
12/18/2006

A December 17, 2006 article from The Associated Press discusses that fact that high school students who match certain academic and demographic criteria receive volumes of information (in print and electronic formats) from various colleges. Marketing within higher education has grown significantly over the past decade, and many colleges work with outside companies to identify and contact prospective students. The demand for quality students is expected to remain high for the foreseeable future, in part because the number of high school graduates is expected to decrease after 2009. While some experts fear that high school students are being inundated with too much marketing material, others believe students will benefit from having several options from which to choose.
