Borrowers Encouraged to Contact Lenders If Unable to Make Student Loan Payments
12/7/2006

A December 7, 2006 article from Gannett News Service reminds student loan borrowers of the options available to them if they are temporarily unable to make their scheduled loan payments. Rather than ignoring the issue, borrowers who are having difficulty making their payments should contact their lenders to discuss the situation and learn whether they might qualify for a different repayment program, a loan deferment, or forbearance. By communicating with the lender, student loan borrowers can prevent loans from defaulting.

The article is available at the Web site of The Ithaca Journal (Ithaca, New York).
