An October 2, 2006 article from The Associated Press reports that, across the country, many high schools are trying to offer more vocational education classes for their students. There are approximately one-fourth as many vocational education classes available to today's students as there were in the 1980s. While these courses compete with reading and mathematics for dollars and other resources, students seem interested in what they have to offer. When schools are unable to provide the classes, local community colleges or regional occupational training centers sometimes offer other options for students.
