An article from the College Parents of America organization provides parents with eight talking points, which are designed to help guide discussions with college students regarding alcohol consumption. Experts stress open, honest communication between parents and students. Be direct about expectations, as well as the possible consequences (health, academic, and legal) of alcohol abuse. Parents are also advised to encourage their students to support a safe campus environment, and to intervene if they suspect a friend or classmate might have a drinking problem.
The article is available at the College Parents of America Web site.
