A September 12, 2006 press release from the Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE) announces that September 12th is Kindergarten Day in Illinois, coinciding with the unveiling of newly developed Illinois Early Learning Standards for Kindergarten. The new standards, developed via a cooperative effort between the ISBE and Illinois kindergarten teachers, are in alignment with the Illinois Learning Standards and the Illinois Early Learning Standards. The press release includes a listing of quick facts about kindergarten, as well as a link to the schedule of training sessions on the new standards.
