MAP Plus Provides Grants to College Students in Illinois
7/31/2006

A July 30, 2006 press release announces that Illinois Governor Rod Blagojevich has signed legislation creating the Monetary Award Program Plus (MAP Plus), a grant program targeted at helping middle class families pay for college.

MAP Plus, effective fall 2006, provides $500 grants (which do not need to be repaid) for Illinois residents who do not receive a MAP grant and whose families' adjusted gross incomes [as reported on the 2006-07 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)] are less than $200,000. Students who have already completed the 2006-07 FAFSA do not need to do anything further to be considered for a MAP Plus grant. Recipients must be enrolled on at least a half-time basis as sophomores, juniors or seniors at MAP-approved Illinois colleges.

The press release is available at the State of Illinois Web site.
