A June 27, 2006 article from The Associated Press reports that, in New Jersey, an "Educate the Educators" program allows principals, teachers, coaches and mentors to receive an eye-witness view of military training. Participants in the hands-on tours take part in simulated combat environments, fire mock assault rifles, and get the opportunity to fly in Black Hawk helicopters. One goal of the program is to educate these individuals so that they will be able to answer questions that high school students may have as they contemplate joining New Jersey's National Guard. Since the inception of the "Educate the Educators" program, the New Jersey National Guard has seen the average enlistment of high school and college students increase from 500 to 900.
