High School Students in Some Big Cities Less Likely to Graduate On Time
6/21/2006

A June 20, 2006 article from USA Today reports that, according to a study recently sponsored by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, some large cities have on-time graduation rates that are lower than 50%. The study estimates the overall U.S. high school graduation rate to be approximately 70%. Because it projects the likelihood that students in ninth grade will graduate within four years with a regular diploma, the study does not account for students who are held back a year before being allowed to advance.

The article is available at the USA Today Web site.
