Study Indicates Universal Preschool Programs Are Good Investments
5/18/2006

According to a May 18, 2006 article from The Associated Press, California's June ballot includes a proposition that would impose a tax on individual incomes that exceed $400,000 in order to generate funding for a universal preschool program. The recent report from the National Institute for Early Education Research estimates that, if implemented, the universal preschool program could save California $2.78 for every $1 invested. Projected savings are based on anticipated decreases in school failure rates, delinquency and crime, as well as an increase in productivity.
