Information to Help Parents Understand Standardized Testing
3/14/2006

A March 14, 2006 CNN article provides parents with information to help them better understand the world of standardized testing. Since the No Child Left Behind Act became law in 2002, schools across the country are placing more emphasis on test results. Being familiar with how standardized testing works may help parents guide their children through the process. The article explains the difference between achievement and cognitive abilities tests, discusses norm-referenced vs. criterion-referenced reporting of test results, and also lists questions parents may choose to ask school administrators before and after testing takes place.

The article is available at the CNN.com Web site.
