Technology Transforms College Recruitment Efforts
3/3/2006

A March 1, 2006 article from USA Today reports that technology is having a significant impact on the college recruitment process. In response to students' preference for high-tech communications, several colleges are reducing their print publications budget and instead concentrating on Web site enhancements. Because so much information about colleges is now available online, the first contact some students have with the admission office is when they submit their application - consequently, admission officers have a difficult time projecting how many applications they might receive. While many colleges now offer applicants the option of receiving an admission offer via e-mail, podcast or cellphone text messaging, most still send rejection notifications by postal mail.
