Report Indicates Schools Should Continue to Focus on Reading Skills
3/1/2006

According to a February 28, 2006 article from USA Today, a recent report shows that, of the 1.2 million high school graduates who took the ACT college entrance exam in 2005, just over half have the necessary reading skills to perform well in college or job training programs. The report indicates that students tend to focus less on developing college-level reading skills in the 11th and 12th grades than they do through the 10th grade. ACT officials will meet with Washington legislators to discuss their findings.

The article can be accessed at the USA Today Web site.
