More Colleges Focusing on Students' Level of Quantitative Literacy
2/28/2006

A February 28, 2006 article from Inside Higher Ed reports that, at colleges across the nation, more focus is being placed on students' quantitative literacy (i.e., the ability to use mathematics in daily life). Some colleges require new students to take a quantitative reasoning assessment and, depending on their performance, they may then be required to take a math course to boost their skills. Other colleges require all students to take at least one mathematics class prior to graduation, regardless of their starting skill level.

The article is available at the Inside Higher Ed Web site.
