According to a February 15, 2006 article from the Associated Press, more than half of all parents who participated in a recent poll are satisfied with the math and science education their children are receiving in public schools. The percentage of high school parents who approve of the level of math and science education in public schools is even higher, at approximately 70%. Results of the poll, which was conducted by the public opinion research group Public Agenda, are in contrast to recent calls by government and business leaders to strengthen the level of math and science education in order to keep the U.S. competitive in the global economy.
