A December 1, 2005 article from The Associated Press discusses results from the National Assessment of Educational Progress (The Nation's Report Card), in which 11 urban school districts across the nation voluntarily participated with their students in grades four and eight. In general, scores in math improved while no significant gains were seen in reading. These results mirror current trends being seen across the country in public education.
