Increase in Popularity of Agricultural Education
11/18/2005

A November 17, 2005 article from The Associated Press reports that enrollment in Illinois high school agricultural education courses is at its highest level since the early 1970s, with the current number of participants more than twice what it was as recently as 1990. Among the factors contributing to the increased enrollment is an effort by high school administrators to broaden the scope of topics covered, including biotechnology, animal health, landscaping, floral design and greenhouse operations. The article spotlights the agricultural education program at Valmeyer High School (Valmeyer, Illinois).

The article is available at the CNN.com Web site.
