An October 11, 2005 article from The Washington Post reports an increase in the number of students who delay their college studies. Some students opt to take a break between high school graduation and their first year of college, while others take time off after completing one or two years of college. In addition to providing a mental break for students who have been pushed academically since grade school, the time also provides young adults with an opportunity to travel, volunteer, save money, and/or obtain life experience that may help them later in their careers.
