7/15/2005

According to a July 14, 2005 article from The Associated Press, results of the 2004 National Assessment of Educational Progress (NAEP) show an improvement in math and reading performance for 9-year-olds, but little change for seventeen-year-olds. Often referred to as "the nation's report card," the NAEP is an exam for which participation by schools and students is voluntary. In a July 14th press release posted at the U.S. Department of Education (ED) Web site, Education Secretary Margaret Spellings shares remarks regarding results of the 2004 NAEP.
