A July 8, 2005 article from The Associated Press explains how the "Harry Potter" book series, among others, will be used by an educator in Virginia to teach reading and science in an after-school remedial program for eighth-grade students. One book from the series will be read each quarter, and possible scientific explanations for the magic portrayed in the stories will be explored. A grant from the American Honda Foundation is funding the program, and the eighth-grade teacher is getting assistance from a physics professor at Frostburg State University in Maryland.
