Fully Staffed Library Essential to Student Performance
3/29/2005

An article in the Decatur (Illinois) Herald & Review discusses the findings of a two-year study of Illinois school libraries and their effect on student achievement. The study found that although students who attend schools with better-staffed libraries are more successful academically, librarians are often the first to go when a school district's finances are tight. The Illinois School Library Media Association is urging librarians to seek assistance through personal presentations to garner the funding necessary to put librarians back in schools.
