Tips for Families Raising Money to Pay for College Tuition
11/16/2009

A November 12, 2009 U.S. News & World Report article discusses various ways in which families can secure funds to help pay college tuition. Suggested options include: requesting financial assistance from extended family members (grandparents, aunts, uncles, etc.); taking advantage of education tax credits; applying for private scholarships; choosing colleges with lower costs of attendance; cutting costs wherever possible (for example, selecting a less expensive meal plan); and, pursuing part-time student employment during the school year. The article also mentions federal student loans, family savings, and corporate rebate companies (such as Upromise or BabyMint) as options that families may wish to consider.

The article is available at the U.S. News & World Report Web site.
