October 2008
Welcome to the October 2008 ISAC Update for financial aid administrators and business officers. This version of the electronic ISAC Update is a compilation of e-Messages sent through College Zone’s e-Messaging service throughout October. This e-Messaging service has replaced ISAC’s use of printed newsletters, the ILASFAA ListServ, and special e-mail lists as our primary means of communicating information to you. The articles in this Update have been organized according to the FAA Zone subscription groups to which the messages were distributed via College Zone’s e-Messaging service. Questions? Questions regarding information in this ISAC Update can be directed to School Services at 866.247.2172 or at schoolservices@isac.org. On occasion, you may be directed to a specific contact person or area; when this occurs, we will provide the appropriate information in the individual article or message.
MULTIPLE SUBSCRIPTION GROUPS Coming Soon... ING Grant Payment Request Rosters at My Zone New functionality will soon allow colleges to submit Illinois National Guard (ING) Grant Program payment requests to ISAC via the My Zone portal. Effective for 2008-09 processing, this new My Zone function will replace the paper roster process with a secure, electronic method of transmitting initial, supplemental and out-of-district claims data for the ING Grant Program. Via My Zone, colleges will have the ability to ensure timely claims processing by electronically submitting payment requests on a regular basis throughout the academic year. Once launched (anticipated to take place during the week of November 3rd), the ING Grant Payment Request Roster system will be available each Monday through Saturday from 7 a.m. until 7 p.m. (CT). Benefits of Electronic Process Once available, ING Grant Payment Request Rosters at My Zone will streamline the payment request process by allowing colleges to receive and submit payment request rosters electronically via My Zone, reducing the number of rosters that are printed and mailed each year and resulting in both financial and environmental benefits. In addition, the history of all payment requests for the current and previous academic years will be available to colleges online - again, minimizing the need to print and retain hard copies of rosters. More Information to Follow Watch for future announcements regarding additional enhancements to the ING Grant area at My Zone, including the ability to print and/or view Payment Authorizations online. A separate e-Message, including links to detailed information at collegezone.com, will be sent once the new ING Grant Payment Request Roster functionality is available at My Zone.
TESP Payment Authorization Reports Available at My Zone The first group of TESP Payment Authorization reports are now available for colleges to view, print and/or save via My Zone. * TESP includes the Illinois Future Teacher Corps (IFTC) and Minority Teachers of Illinois (MTI) Scholarship programs. Accessing Reports Colleges utilize the "TESP Payment Authorization" link (located on the TESP Program Selection screen at My Zone) in order to access the payment authorization reports. Reports include data regarding students for whom the college previously submitted payment claims. As a reminder, TESP Payment Authorization reports are generated aftera payment request roster has been submitted and a voucher number and voucher date have been entered into the My Zone system. It is estimated that payment authorization reports will be available for colleges to access via TESP Payment Authorization approximately 7 to 10 days after the corresponding payment request roster has been submitted to ISAC. The TESP Payment system (including TESP Payment Request Roster and TESP Payment Authorization functionality) is available each Monday through Saturday from 7 a.m. until 7 p.m. (CT).
October Webinar to Feature Illinois National Guard (ING) Grant Program To participate in the Webinar: access the PowerPoint presentation on the Partner Training page in the e-Library at collegezone.com (it will be posted on the morning of October 30th), then dial 877.873.8017 and enter code 8324962# to access the audio portion.
Announcing... TESP Payment Authorization in My Zone * TESP includes the Illinois Future Teacher Corps (IFTC) and Minority Teachers of Illinois (MTI) Scholarship programs. Details Regarding TESP Payment Authorization in My Zone With the new TESP Payment Authorization functionality, colleges receive payment claim results for the IFTC and MTI Scholarship programs in a secure, electronic environment via the My Zone portal. Payment Authorization reports can be printed, saved and/or viewed online, replacing the paper reports that were previously mailed to colleges.
Colleges utilize the new "TESP Payment Authorization" link, which has been added to the TESP Program Selection screen at My Zone, in order to access the payment authorization reports. Reports include data regarding students for whom the college previously submitted payment claims via TESP Payment Online. Note that, because TESP Payment Authorization reports are generated after a payment request roster has been submitted and a voucher number and voucher date have been entered into the My Zone system, there are not currently any payment authorization reports available at My Zone. ISAC will send a separate e-Message to announce once the first TESP Payment Authorization reports are available for colleges to access. More Information Available Online Further details regarding the online TESP Payment Authorization functionality may be accessed by selecting the TESP Payment Authorization option from the right-margin menu of the Teacher Education Scholarship Programs (TESP) section at My Zone. As a reminder, the TESP Payment system (including TESP Payment Online and TESP Payment Authorization) is available each Monday through Saturday from 7 a.m. until 7 p.m. (CT).

FINANCIAL AID ADMINISTRATORS Mapping Your Future's Online Student Loan Counseling Offers TEACH Grant Initial and Subsequent Counseling October 3, 2008 Mapping Your Future E-Update. Mapping Your Future offers initial and subsequent counseling for the Teacher Education Assistance for College and Higher Education (TEACH) Grant, making it the 17th counseling session available in Online Student Loan Counseling (OSLC).* The TEACH Grant counseling session provides information about the terms and conditions of a TEACH Grant service agreement, as well as the rights and responsibilities that apply if a grant is converted to a Federal Direct Unsubsidized Stafford Loan. Regulations require TEACH Grant applicants to complete an initial counseling session prior to each grant disbursement. If a student receives more than one TEACH Grant, he or she must complete subsequent counseling. Mapping Your Future's counseling session serves both purposes. To experience TEACH Grant initial and subsequent counseling from the student perspective, follow these steps:
If you have an existing OSLC account for your school and would like to add TEACH Grant counseling to your participation categories, contact Mapping Your Future at feedback@mappingyourfuture.org. If you don't have an OSLC account, complete the school submission form at mappingyourfuture.org/oslc/schoolsignup.cfm to request participation. Further details regarding OSLC, including a listing of all available counseling types, are provided at the Learn more about Online Student Loan Counseling page of the Mapping Your Future Web site. * OSLC is a free service, provided by the guaranty agencies from around the country - including ISAC - that sponsor Mapping Your Future, as well as the Friends that support the organization. All of the counseling sessions are guarantor and lender neutral.
