Federal Government Seeks to Ease Concerns about College Loan Availability
4/7/2008

An April 5, 2008 article from the Chicago Sun-Times reports that the federal government is taking precautionary steps to ensure college students will have access to student loan funds in the fall. Margaret Spellings, the U.S. Secretary of Education, has confirmed that, if needed, she has the authority to work with the U.S. Treasury to secure financing for college student loans. Members of Congress are also introducing legislation to counter any negative impact that the nation's current credit situation might potentially have on student loan availability.

The article is available at the Chicago Sun-Times Web site.
