4/2/2008

According to an April 1, 2008 USA Today article, a recent study commissioned by the America's Promise Alliance indicates that a significant gap exists between the high school graduation rates in large cities and their surrounding suburbs. Based on data from public schools in 50 metropolitan areas, there is a greater than 25% difference in city and suburban graduation rates for nearly one-fourth of the school systems that were included.

The article, which provides a listing of the 50 cities included in the study, is available at the USA Today Web site.
