Internet Helps Student Volunteerism to Soar
3/14/2008

According to a March 12, 2008 USA Today article, volunteerism among high school and college students has seen a dramatic increase in recent years. Experts point to the Internet, which allows for quick mobilization at the national level, as a key factor contributing to the surge in youth volunteerism. Non-profit groups are using social-networking sites (such as MySpace and Facebook) to share their messages with teenagers and young adults, many of whom choose to volunteer for causes that they deem worthwhile.

The article is available at the USA Today Web site.
