Illinois High School Develops Public Awareness Campaign on Safe Use of Cell Phones
3/13/2008

A March 13, 2008 article from The State Journal-Register (Springfield, Illinois) reports that a broadcasting class at Porta High School (Petersburg, Illinois) has developed a public awareness campaign to promote safe cell phone use. Using video and radio advertisements that will run during the month of March, the "Put Your Cell on ICE" campaign encourages the public to avoid cell phone use while driving, and also to load ICE (in case of emergency) contact information on cell phones. The cost of airing the advertisements will come from grant money received through the state's Operation Teen Safe Driving initiative.

The article, which includes a link to an online copy of the TV ad, is available at the Web site of The State Journal-Register.
