Elementary School Principals in Illinois Take on Healthier Lifestyle Challenge
2/20/2008

A February 19, 2008 press release announces that, to date, more than 20 Illinois elementary schools have signed up for the "Move and Crunch Challenge for Principals." A joint effort of the Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE) and the Illinois Department of Human Services (DHS), the program is aimed to encourage principals and school communities to adopt healthier lifestyles. Principals at participating elementary schools keep track of how many days they successfully follow recommendations for vegetable and fruit consumption, as well as physical activity. As students, parents and the rest of each school community encourage their principals to succeed, they will become aware of ways to make healthy changes in their own lives.

The press release, which provides further details regarding the challenge (including how schools can register), is available at the ISBE Web site.
