According to a January 23, 2008 USA Today article, a recent survey of college freshmen indicates that, in general, most students feel their parents' level of involvement in their lives is appropriate. Some college administrators, however, are concerned that parents who play too active a role in college students' lives may prevent those students from maturing and learning to handle situations on their own. The results of the survey reflect differences in how various ethnic groups view parental involvement, with more than twice as many Hispanic as Caucasian students indicating their parents should be more involved in course selection. The article is available at the USA Today Web site. |
