More College Freshmen Studying Overseas
1/23/2008

A January 22, 2008 article from The Wall Street Journal indicates that many college freshmen are choosing to study abroad. While freshman year has traditionally been a time to simply grow accustomed to living away from home, some educators believe that studying overseas during the first year of college is an ideal way to gain exposure to the global environment. Freshman year may also be an easier option to spend a term abroad for those students in majors that have very structured schedules for upperclassmen. Because of their young age, freshmen who study overseas are often required by their college to obtain a signed parental waiver, allowing college administrators to act in lieu of a parent as needed.
