Many College Students Studying Foreign Languages
11/14/2007

A November 13, 2007 article from The Associated Press reports that enrollment in foreign language courses has significantly increased at U.S. colleges over the past four years. Based on a recent study from the Modern Language Association of America, the article indicates that - although Spanish remains the most popular - Arabic is the fastest-growing language to study. While total enrollment numbers for foreign language courses has increased, the fact that there are also more students attending college means that, overall, a smaller percentage of the total student population is studying a foreign language.

The article is available at the MSNBC Web site.
