U.S. Schools Focusing More Time on Reading and Math

A July 25, 2007 article from The Associated Press reports that, according to a recent poll, students in schools across the country are spending significantly more time studying reading and math each day. In many cases, this increase in reading and math has resulted in less time spent on other subjects and activities. Critics of the No Child Left Behind law point to its requirements regarding reading and math proficiency as the reason for less focus being placed on other topics.
