College Students Struggle with High Blood Pressure and Obesity
6/15/2007

According to a June 15, 2007 article from Inside Higher Ed, a recent study from the University of New Hampshire shows an increasing number of college students are struggling with health issues such as high blood pressure and obesity. Of the more than 800 students surveyed, half of females and two-thirds of males exhibited at least one risk factor for heart disease and diabetes. Experts believe that busy schedules, coupled with having to make their own nutrition decisions for the first time, contribute to the health issues being faced by college students. In addition, as childhood obesity rates increase, more students begin their college experience overweight.

The article is available at the Inside Higher Ed Web site.
