6/14/2007

According to a June 13, 2007 press release from the Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE), an estimated 6 million free meals and snacks will be served this summer to thousands of low-income students at over 1,800 locations across the state of Illinois. The services, which offer nutritious meals to children 18 and younger, are funded by two federal summer food programs that are administered by ISBE. Food sites are sponsored by local governments, school districts, and non-profit organizations throughout Illinois.

The press release, which includes information regarding how to locate summer food sites, is available at the ISBE Web site.
