A May 14, 2007 article from The Associated Press reports that, across the nation, more colleges are utilizing blogs (interactive online diaries) as a recruitment tool to help prospective students learn about their institution. Some colleges allow any student blogs to be accessed freely from their Web sites, while others compensate student bloggers in order to retain some control over what is posted. Those who advocate blogging as a recruitment tool believe that the online resource helps potential students learn about life on their campus, and also enables them to ask questions that they might be hesitant to raise in person.
