According to a May 2, 2007 press release, Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE) Chairman Jesse Ruiz joined other Illinois education advocates in Springfield on Wednesday, May 2nd, for a rally regarding funding for education. The emphasis of the Capitol Action Rally for Education (CARE) was to encourage legislators to find ways to improve how Illinois schools are funded. Students, parents and educators were among those who attended the rally.
