Teacher Helps Kindergarteners Learn in Positive Environment

An April 18, 2007 USA Today article spotlights a kindergarten teacher in West Virginia who uses enthusiasm and a positive environment to motivate her students to learn. Lessons and activities are developed in a way that encourages students to discover, rather than memorize, information. Students are taught to demonstrate positive behavior, such as being good listeners, and are rewarded for doing so.

A side-bar to the article indicates that USA Today is accepting applications for the 10th annual All-USA Teacher Team, which honors outstanding teachers. Applications are being accepted through April 30, 2007.
