Effective July 1, 2010, all new federal student loans will come directly from the U.S. Department of Education (ED) under the William D. Ford Federal Direct Loan Program (Federal Direct Loans). As a parent (PLUS) borrower, you are not required to attend or participate in entrance and exit counseling sessions. However, you may wish to remind your student that attending this counseling is a requirement if he/she has obtained a Federal Student Loan.
