If you had set up a 529 prepaid tuition plan with
College Illinois!®, it's time to reap the benefits. Benefits can be used at colleges across the United States, not just in Illinois. Contracts must be paid in full before your child can use any benefits and benefits cannot be used until three years after the first payment due date.
During the senior year in high school, College Illinois!® will send your child information on using program benefits. Also during the senior year, your child will complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) to determine financial aid eligibility. The impact of College Illinois! prepaid tuition program benefits on a student's financial aid package is discussed at 529prepaidtuition.org.
After your child is enrolled in college, College Illinois!® will send the full or partial tuition and mandatory fee payments directly to the college.
