Types of Colleges
Just as every child is different, every college is different, too.  Before helping your child determine which type of college would best meet their needs, you must first identify their goals.

Some colleges are focused entirely on teaching a trade (technical and vocational colleges), and others require that students take courses related to a specific major, plus math, science, literature, etc. (community colleges and four-year colleges). The profession your child chooses may help decide which college is right for them. If your child is not sure what profession they’d like to pursue, refer to the Occupational Handbook. Also, refer your child to our College Criteria List in the Student Zone for more help determining which college to attend.
