Federal PLUS Application Process (For Parents and Graduate or Professional Students)
For Federal PLUS loans, borrowers (graduate or professional students or parents of dependent undergraduate students) can obtain a PLUS Application and Master Promissory Note from the school, the lender or the guarantor.

Borrowers must complete the required sections of the form. In the case of a parent borrower, both the parent and the dependent undergraduate student must complete the Borrower and Student sections of the form. By signing the master promissory note, a borrower certifies that he/she has read the information in the note, understands the terms and conditions of the loan, and promises to repay the loan.

After all applicable sections are completed, the borrower submits the loan application to the school, the lender or the guarantor, depending on the processing options established at the school. The FAA determines borrower eligibility and certifies the PLUS loan amount according to federal regulations, guarantor policies and the school’s published standards. Borrowers must be determined creditworthy to be eligible for a PLUS loan.
