SPRINGFIELD - The Illinois Student Assistance Commission (ISAC) is proud to announce this year's Illinois State Scholar finalists. The Illinois State Scholars Program recognizes Illinois high school students for outstanding academic achievement.
"These students should be extremely proud of their accomplishments. The Commission congratulates them and wishes them the best in their future endeavors," proclaimed Larry Matejka, ISAC's Executive Director.
Students ranking in the top ten percent of the state's 135,600 high school graduating seniors have been named Illinois State Scholars. Selection is based on SAT I and/or ACT (including the Prairie State Achievement Examination) test score results and/or students' class rank at the end of the junior year in high school. While the program does not provide a monetary award, the designation as an Illinois State Scholar can be listed on applications for college admission and scholarships.
ISAC has sent congratulatory letters to each Illinois State Scholar, and high school guidance counselors have also received a list of their school's Illinois State Scholars. More information about this program or other financial assistance programs administered by ISAC can be found at www.collegezone.com or by calling 800-899-ISAC (4722).
