The Illinois Student Assistance Commission (ISAC) is a one-stop financial aid center.   We administer most of the key state and federal grant, scholarship, loan and prepaid tuition programs available to post-secondary students.

We have an immediate opening for a Web Developer to join our Deerfield staff.  This individual will be a high level web technologist with strong technical and soft.   

Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or a related field.
• Minimum 7 years application development experience
• 2 years in Java Standard and Enterprise editions
• Experience with agile development methodologies and practices - Java, JEE, JDBC, JMS, EJB, RMI, XML, WebServices, WSDL,  JavaScript, HTML & CSS
• Experience with Service Oriented Architecture and SOA platforms  

Necessary Soft Skills:
• Professional level oral and written communications.ctive questioning and listening
• Ability to understand the requirements and break it into smaller modules for further analysis.
• Strong commitment to team efforts, accomplishing assigned projects as needed
• Ability  to keenly observe the environment, audiences, written material, oral presentations, and all other means of information gathering such that superior insight is generated
• Ability to think laterally.  T shaped thinking.  

Technical Competences:
• Experience using Java and WebService IDEs such as Eclipse
• Experience using at least one J2EE application server: JBOSS, WebLogic, WebSphere
• Experience using Ant
• Experience with Win Forms and ASP.NET Web Forms
• 5+ years with SQL Server [2005 / 2008]
• Oracle, Crystal Reports
• ADO.NET, XML, COM, solid object oriented design and programming and UML
• SQL Reporting Services [SSRS]
• AJAX, Web Services, Window Services, XML, XSLT, JavaScript, Jscript
• VBScript, ASP, VB 6.0
• Version control [PVCS]

Additional Desirable Technical Skills / Requirements

• Sun Java Developer certification / Microsoft Certified Professional Certification
• Experience with Open Source tools such as MySql and Subversion in a .Net environment
• Experience with other Open Source tools such as: Apache commons, Apache Axis, Log4J, Spring, TomCat
• 4+ years with .NET development, specifically C#, VB.Net .NET 3.5
• Knowledge of WCF and LINQ is a plus
• IIS 6.0 / 7.0, NAnt
• NUnit framework
• Silverlight, XAML
• Awareness of/Experience with Portals and Portal standards such as JSR 168, JSR 286
