ISAC Rules, Part 2759
The Nurse Educator Scholarship Program is designed to attract capable and promising students to the nursing educator profession. Increasing the number of instructors will allow more students to be educated in the field of nursing. This scholarship also provides an opportunity for individuals interested in making a career change to the nurse educator profession.
This program pays tuition and fees for approved graduate-level programs at eligible Illinois colleges for up to four calendar years (the equivalent of 8 semesters or 16 quarters of full-time enrollment). Recipients attending a public college will receive a scholarship to cover the cost of tuition and fees. Those attending a private college will also receive a scholarship to cover the cost of tuition and fees, up to the maximum amount payable to a recipient enrolled in the most expensive comparable program at an Illinois public college.
In addition, qualified applicants receive a stipend of up to $10,000 to cover the cost of attendance, including living expenses. Recipients who are not enrolled on a full-time basis will have their stipends prorated according to the credit hours taken.
As part of the application process, the applicant must agree to the terms and conditions that are outlined in the application's Teaching Agreement/Promissory Note. By receiving the scholarship, the applicant must teach in Illinois in the field of nursing education. If this teaching commitment is not fulfilled, the amount of benefits received (including scholarship and stipend dollars) converts to a loan, and the entire amount must be repaid plus interest.
