The maximum MAP Plus available to a qualified applicant is $500 per school year, disbursed in two payments not to exceed $250 per term. The maximum award amount is dependent on available funding in any given year. All MAP Plus awards will be paid directly to the school.
A MAP Plus grant must not exceed tuition and mandatory fees minus state and federal gift assistance that is restricted to paying tuition and mandatory fees. MAP Plus cannot be used for items such as books, travel or housing. Schools, however, cannot request less than $250 per term.
If a MAP Plus award, combined with other sources of gift assistance, exceeds the student's cost of attendance, the school must reduce the other aid to eliminate an overaward. For the purposes of this calculation, federal veterans benefits are not counted as gift assistance.
